BOMA 2016: You’re In It!

ETS attended the BOMA International Conference and Expo held at the Gaylord Convention Center at National Harbor, Maryland in June. A 3-day event, the conference offered a chance for the most successful property professionals to reconnect, share ideas, learn and be recognized.  Our team immersed itself exhibiting at the Expo, leading an education session, and gaining insights and opportunities at networking and cocktail events.  It was a fast and energizing few days, that overall will help ETS and colleagues stay ahead of industry trends, maximize the effectiveness of our products, and optimize the performance of our clients’ commercial assets.

Here are the Highlights:

Booth 1204 Engages Visitors at Tech Pavilion

The rise in technology and its integration into property management was top of mind during the course of the conference as CRE leadership grapples with how technology is affecting tenant needs. This was proven as steady traffic developed over three days in the Technology Pavilion. This year ETS and partner, Mach Energy, shared booth space to engage and enlighten visitors on the benefits of Property Management and Energy Management tools.

This year ETS was well represented at the booth. Visitors had the opportunity to gain a comprehensive view of the company as they connected with ETS Leadership, Business Development, Account Management, Operations, Training and Creative.

With wide-screen slideshow and iPads in hand, the staff were ready to provide visitors insight not only about what ETS offers, but how seamless and turn-key technology integration really can be – providing decision makers with real data to apply to future tech application in their property or portfolio.  ETS was able to bolster existing relationships as well as make new connections.

Thanks to those who stopped by!

And the TOBY Goes To…

The annual conference culminated with the greatly anticipated International TOBY Awards.  Out of 84 buildings, only 15 took home the coveted honor bestowed upon a building’s operational team.

ETS is honored to work with, and contribute to, the efforts of property personnel and companies dedicated to being the best in the business regionally, and nationally.  We congratulate all the TOBY winners for a job well done this year, especially our friends and colleagues at the following properties:

ETS’ own Ian O’Neil presented on Sunday morning of the BOMA International Conference, on a very timely topic – how the building owner can better understand the rise of the “on-demand” tenant and all that they require.  Ian reviewed how advances in application technology and smartphone devices are driving the on-demand culture for services both in and out of the workplace.  In order to stay competitive and respond to the changes in commercial tenants’ demands, commercial property owners or managers now have an opportunity to harness the technology needed to respond to changes in tenant behavior. The key benefit is targeted communication for specific tenant groups as well as the ability to streamline broader communications for better efficiency and engagement.

The TOBY Awards were also an opportunity for outgoing chairman & CEO Kent Gibson, BOMA Fellow and president of Capstone Property Management, to recognize the association’s three regional members of the year, one of which was ETS friend Mark Dukes, Physicians Realty Trust VP of Property Management and BOMA/Georgia member. Mark served as president of his local association last year and led the organization in the development of a new commercial real estate leadership master’s program; conducted in-depth research leading to a comprehensive strategy to address the educational needs of building engineers; and significantly grew BOMA/Georgia’s education enrollment and membership.
